Here we try to help you understand the Basset Hound Eye.
"Lozenge-shaped neither prominent nor deep-set, dark but may shade to mid-brown in light coloured hounds. Expression calm and serious. Light or yellow eye highly undesirable"
Lozenge shaped means the eye has a diamond shape configuration..........Originally, this shape was produced by huntsmen to ensure that, if a hound's eye was caught in undergrowth, it did not rip but had some "give".
There are very few breeds where this lozenge or lozenge shape occurs and great care must be taken by breeders to ensure that excessive skin/wrinkle is not produced.
